Why do we need philosophy/ religion today? They seem to cause more division and problems

I believe we need religion and philosophy in order to live the right role of life. Religion can teach discipline, a sense of moral values, a sense of right and wrong. It can act as a guide for behaviour, caring for others with unconditional love. It also teaches us to reach out to people who are suffering. To accept people without judgment and respect for each other.

Food and Culture

This dish is originated by the people in China, Hainan Island and has since then been Singaporeans regular dish eaten usually for lunch or dinner. It is mainly cooked with garlic, scallion and ginger and the rice is cooked till fragrant. A very popular Chinese dish in Singapore, Hainanese chicken rice can be found at every hawker center. My favourite food is chicken rice. I like to eat the chicken full of succulent meat with very little bones. The skin is smooth that it virtually "melts in the mouth". The rice is fragrant and served with delicious soup. The best part is the chilli which is spicy hot and bites into the tongue.

Roti Prata originates from Southern India and is a type of Indian pancake made of flour. It comes with a variation of fillings including egg, cheese, banana, onions, meat or even topped off with a scoop of ice cream. It is served with hot curry gravy. Some people prefer to eat it with sugar. This is an Indian food. I like to eat roti prata as the prata is crispy and fluffy. It is excellent to go with the curry gravy or sugar.

I have learned that life during World War II was a torture to those people. They suffered at that time. Well, I appreciate my life right now. During those days, life was no good. Life is like freedom to me. 1 thing which I am interested to learn during History is how World War II actually started...

Life During the Japanese Occupation

War is a destructive and traumatic experience for mankind. The capture of Singapore by the Japanese changed the lives of many people. There were many murders and brutalities inflicted upon the people everyday. Many people were taken prisoner by the Japanese. Prison life was boring, simple with lack of water and food. Many prisoners were hungry and they are all very thin. Many Japanese schools were opened to force the people to learn Japanese culture and respect to the Emperor of Japan. The war that lasted three years was dreadful but the lessons and the war teaches us to value relationships and never to take what we have for granted.

More checks to stem HFMD

HYGIENE checks will be carried out at all 800 childcare centres in Singapore to stem cases of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD). The viral infection is now on the rise because of a seasonal peak. HFMD can affect both adults and children, causing fever, rashes on hands and feet and painful ulcers in the mouth. Childcare centres are hotspots for the infection which is spread by direct contact with an infected person.

Teen held over bus-stop assault

Leonard Wee was being assaulted by a 17-year-old boy an Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) student at the bus stop after the rugby final last week. He was punched in the face and suffered a broken nose. He was then taken to hospital. After the suspect and his friend attacked him, they got away by boarding a bus. The suspect surrendered himself on Tuesday at the Tanglin Police Station after receiving a call from the police. At the moment, the police is investigating the case.

Describe a childhood birthday

My most memorable childhood birthday was when I was 8 years old. It was on a Thursday. I came back from school as usual. I took off my shoes and entered the house. When I entered, I couldn't find anybody in there. There was not even a single person in the house. I was astonished for a while but I saw a purple box decorated with musical notes left on the dining table. " There!" I said to myself. I then saw a note beside the box. I immediately picked up the note. The note wrote: : " HAPPY BIRTHDAY :)" Soon as I pick the note, my parents and siblings came out all of a sudden. I was surprised. My parents were holding a chocolate cake which was my favourite and my siblings were singing Happy Birthday on the way to the dining table. They placed the cake on the table and they asked me to make a wish. I soon made a wish. Then they said that the box over there was my present. I opened it and inside it was a mp3 player! I was so happy :) I would not forget this childhood birthday.
